Pink slips & blue slips Griffith roadworthy certificates

As an Authorised Inspection Station, Dredge Machinery can provide Blue Slips and Pink Slips for your car in Griffith

What is a pink slip?

The Pink Slip, also called an E-Safety Inspection, is a roadworthy inspection you need to renew your registration or obtaining new registration in cases where the car has been unregistered for less than 90 days and is valid for 42 days.

What is a blue slip?

The Blue Slip is a roadworthy inspection, vehicle identification check and Engine inspection all rolled into one. You will need a blue slip for new registration if the car has been unregistered for more than 90 days, or if the car does not have NSW license plates (i.e. - bought interstate and will be used in NSW).

The Green Slip is Compulsory Third Person Insurance for the vehicle, renewed together with Rego.

The Rego is your car Registration, purchased for 6-12 months at various RMS outlets and renewable after expiration.

Does my car need to be inspected?

You must have your vehicle inspected if:

  • Registration renewal notice tells you that an inspection is required
  • You want to renew the registration on your vehicle that is more than 5 years old
  • You want to register a light vehicle not currently registered in NSW
  • You want to register a heavy vehicle

Answering 'Yes' to any of the points means your vehicle needs to be inspected.

Roadworthy Inspections in NSW FAQ

What is checked for a pink slip?

  • Tyre tread and tyre quality
  • Car body overall condition
  • Auto Electrics such as indicator lights, head lights, brake lights and interior lights
  • State of Seatbelts
  • Brake effectiveness
  • any fluid leaks
  • Engine condition
  • Suspension condition
  • Exhaust condition
  • Driveline condition

What is the difference between a pink slip and a green slip?

A green slip is the Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance needed when registering your vehicle. It covers any injuries that have occured in car accidents.
A pink slip is the e-Safety check report to verify your vehicle is fit to drive.

How will I know if I need an e-Safety check?

Your registration renewal will let you know when you need to get an e-Safety check. Most light vehicles more than 5 years old will require a pink slip prior to registration in NSW.

Why do I need a blue slip?

A blue slip verifies a previously unregistered vehicle is safe and can be re-registered. All unregistered light vehicles need to have a blue slip inspection completed prior to them being registered. If your vehicle:

  • Has registration that expired more than 3 months ago
  • Has been brought into NSW from interstate or overseas
  • Has no number plates
  • Has been written-off, but has now been approved for re-registration
  • Required adjustments in their registration records because something about the vehicle has changed significantly, such as a new engine
  • Has defect notices that need to be cleared

You will need to get a blue slip inspection completed by an Authorised Unregistered Vehicle Inspection Station, like Dredge Machinery, to be sent to the Transport for NSW. This is sent electronically and valid for 42 days from inspection.

You will need to bring the original hard copy of the report to Transport of NSW service centre when you register your vehicle.
